About Us

At Ryan’s World Foundation, we aim to turn a new leaf in the lives of our community. We envision a future where equity towards special needs individuals is second-nature to ensure people are receiving the resources they need to succeed in life. Cultivating skills and fostering an inclusive environment where people with developmental and intellectual disabilities can thrive, Ryan’s World bridges the gap between special needs and a sense of purpose, one cup of tea at a time.

“When you share the first cup, you’re a stranger, with the second cup, you are a friend, and with the third cup you become family.”
Greg Mortensen, author of Three Cups of Tea paraphrasing a Pakistani proverb.

Mission

Bridging the gap between special needs individuals and their ability to thrive with purpose and success.

Vision

To create an equitable world where special needs individuals are valued, celebrated, and thriving in work environments across the globe.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER:

A man of few words, David Kowlessar believes in creating change through our actions. Inspired by his autistic nephew, Ryan, age 25, and a deep sense of equity amongst people, David recognized a great gap in services for adult special needs individuals. -Once a child reaches age 21, their access to resources becomes extremely limited. Not to mention, being an adult brings on another set of responsibilities for the developmentally/physically challenged and their families. David is driven to “bridging the gap” between neurotypical individuals and those who need a little extra assistance navigating our modern work environments. Familiar with life’s many obstacles, David wishes to instill resilience amongst those in his organization, giving hope to those facing obstacles to receiving what they need to succeed in life. Having the confidence, self-esteem, and dignity to be able to contribute to one’s society is practically everyone’s dream and David believes that we can all rise to the occasion to collectively achieve those dreams, regardless of our current abilities. We can actively become involved by giving our time, expertise, and/or resources to help the special needs community thrive.

Our Goals

Non-profit Organisation’s vision is to create a world where all people have equal access to education and healthcare. Our mission is to provide the necessary resources and support to underprivileged communities to improve their quality of life.

Learning: We believe that all individuals learn differently, and we tailor our programs to each individual’s unique needs. We will provide various learning opportunities, including educational programs developed by therapists (OT, PT, ST, etc) coupled with on-site experience in a retail/food-service environment.
Self-Confidence: We are dedicated to nurturing self-confidence and self-esteem in every individual we work with. Through positive reinforcement and compassionate support, we aim to help the special needs population embrace their uniqueness while overcoming challenges with resilience.
Equity: In a world where ableism is rampant, we strive to provide visibility and equity for those with developmental and physical disabilities, fostering a working environment that allows them to thrive and be more self-sufficient. We want to demonstrate that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can have a place to safely work, support their families, and succeed.
Advocacy and Community Awareness: Together, with the collaboration of our compassionate team, supportive families, and dedicated community, Ryan’s World Foundation seeks to find innovative ways to target issues preventing special needs adults from accessing the resources needed for their success.
